Why Gift an NFT

Whether you’re thinking of picking up some NFTs for yourself or as a cool new gift for your friends during the holidays, the Binance NFT platform is sure to have something that’ll pique your interest.

NFTs are popularly touted as the future form of art, games, and merchandise. At the peak of its hype in 2021, NFTs recorded annual sales as high as $18.5bn with individual pieces selling for as much as $91mn.

Since then, the NFT market has lost nearly 90% of its sales volume aided by unfavorable global macros winds and hints of an incoming recession. As with any emerging technology use case, NFT projects are still steadying their footing.

Part of what makes an NFT an interesting gift idea for the holidays is the early excitement and buzz around the industry. The other part is quite simply the potential for one of these gifts to see a big spike in its value.

Gifting an NFT may just be the modern-day equivalent of gifting a Monet back in the day. So, why pass up on the chance to tell that story about the time you gifted a million-Dollar digital work of art to one of your friends? To be clear, that’s almost never going to happen, but who knows?

Getting on Binance NFT

Binance is by no means the only way to purchase an NFT, but it is the easiest way to buy one. Binance also happens to be the largest crypto exchange in the world and is a great way to start your crypto journey.

If you have a Binance account already, you can skip this step. If you don’t, here’s a referral link to sign-up for a new account with 10% discounts on trading fees.

Setting up a Binance account is a pretty straightforward process, but if you have any trouble, use this step-by-step guide to set up your Binance account.

Once your Binance account is set up and ready for trade, it’s time to get on the Binance NFT marketplace by finding the “Binance NFT” icon from the quick links on the home screen of the Binance mobile app.

Step 1: Select “More” from the home screen on the Binance mobile app

Step 2: Select “Binance NFT” from the service menu on the Binance mobile app

Step 3: Welcome to Binance NFT! Let’s start finding some gift NFTs

Finding NFTs on Binance

The tricky thing about NFTs is discovering pieces that have value, will gain value or hold utility in the future. It’s essentially the digital equivalent of being an art buyer.

Chances are that a casual first-timer on the Binance NFT platform isn’t going to happen upon a gem. But, we are out to find a cool gift that’ll be a conversation piece at parties.

There are millions of NFTs listed on the Binance NFT platform and finding one you like is a fun experience, especially if you enjoy shopping.

There are four main ways to find NFTs in the Binance NFT marketplace.
1. Marketplace Listings
2. Marketplace Filters
3. Leaderboards & Rankings
4. Search Bar

A good place to start is the “Explore” section of the Binance NFT home page.

Once in the section, listings, filters, leaderboards, and search features will help narrow down the hunt for interesting NFTs. The “explore” section has multiple options to narrow things down in terms of listings, filters, and a search bar at the top of the screen.

Purchasing an NFT on Binance

Purchasing an NFT on Binance is a really simple process. Just ensure there is enough BUSD, BNB, or ETH in the Binance Spot Wallet to cover the purchase.

For example, I started out searching for a “Christmas” NFT using the search bar and listed the results from lowest to highest price. I also filtered to show only BUSD-denominated NFTs that are available for immediate sale.

I didn’t see anything I liked at first glance, so I kept playing around with the search and eventually found a bad-ass-looking piece that is probably going to be my avatar on Binance and Telegram going forward.

I went ahead and purchased the NFT and now it’s in my collection. I’m probably going to pick up a few for my friends as gifts this season.

Go ahead and explore the Binance NFT marketplace on the mobile app or using this link.

Closing Thoughts

NFTs are still very much in their novelty phase. The future use of NFTs will span outside of art and into the domain of utility-backed tokens. For example, NFTs are being used to develop next-generation identity solutions and to verify the authenticity in real-world business contexts.

The NFTs you find on Binance are unlikely to be world-changing, but they are an interesting foot in the door to a future world of possibility.

Don’t pick up NFTs with the hopes of making a small fortune, unless that’s something you want to invest time and energy into. But, if you’re looking for a fun gift for someone this holiday season, it’s hard to think of something more interesting than an NFT.

Happy holidays!
